    • A self-centering tube (10) for providing an air passageway through an opening in a tracheal wall of a patient includes a shaft (12) having a proximal end (40) and a distal end (44), and a curve along a length of the shaft (12). At least the distal end (44) and the curve are sized for passage through the opening into an interior space of the trachea of the patient. The proximal end (40) of the shaft (12) has a greater rigidity than the distal end (44). The tube (10) includes an inflatable cuff (26) at the distal end (44). Upon inflation, the cuff (26) forms a seal between the shaft (12) and an interior wall of the trachea, thereby permitting at least the low rigidity distal end (44) of the shaft (12) to self-center within the trachea.

    • An endobronchial blocking device (10) for use in blocking a selected mainstem bronchus under visualization of a tip-deflectable bronchoscope. The blocking device comprises an elongated member having a plurality of lumens therein, the elongated member having a proximal portion (12) and a distal portion (14), the proximal portion having a first durometer and the distal portion having a second durometer, the first durometer being greater than the second durometer. An inflatable blocker balloon (16) is disposed about the distal portion of the elongated member. A first lumen of the blocking device has a diameter sufficient for receiving the bronchoscope, and a second lumen communicates with an interior of the balloon to accomplish inflation. The distal portion of the elongated member is deflectable responsive to the deflection of the tip of the bronchoscope, to enable the elongated member to be positioned at a desired site in the selected mainstem bronchus.

    • The present invention provides apparatus and methods for treating a vascular condition by restoring patency to a vessel while reducing the likelihood that emboli become dislodged into the bloodstream. In a first embodiment, the apparatus comprises a graft having proximal and distal regions, a first support member attached to the distal region of the graft, and a second support member attached to the proximal region of the graft. The first and second support members may comprise first and second stents, respectively. The first stent is deployed distal to a vascular condition, and the second stent is deployed proximal to a vascular condition, such that the graft spans the length of the vascular condition to entrap emboli during treatment of the vascular condition. In an alternative embodiment, the first stent is adapted to be deployed within a vessel at a location distal to the vascular condition, and the graft is adapted to be everted to form a pocket adapted to entrap emboli dislodged during treatment of the vascular condition. The second stent then may be subsequently deployed proximal to the vascular condition, such that emboli trapped within the graft pocket are effectively sealed off from the bloodstream.
