    • PURPOSE: To form a homogenous coating film by repeatedly performing a process applying a primary rust preventing coating material to the surface of a steel panel unidirectionally or reciprocally by using a coating line wherein a plurality of spray tips are arranged along the advance direction of the steel panel to be coated for a large-sized structure and the direction crossing the steel panel at a right angle so as to leave an interval between the spray tips. CONSTITUTION: A large-sized structure such as a ship or a bridge is constructed using a steel panel preliminarily subjected to rust preventing treatment and coated with a primary rust preventing coating material. When the primary rust preventing coating material is applied to the steel panel 1 for the large-sized structure, a coating line wherein a plurality of spray tips are arranged along the width direction of the steel panel 1 so as to leave an interval between the spray tips is used. In this case, the interval between the spray tips in the width direction of the steel panel is set to 1/n (n; integer of 2 or more) the width of a spray pattern. After the spray coating with the primary rust preventing coating material is applied to the steel panel 1 while the steel panel is unidirectionally advanced, a process wherein the spray tips are moved in a reverse direction in synchronous relation to the advance speed of the steel panel is repeated to form homogeous film thickness wherein average dry film thickness is 10-50μm and the irregularity index of film thickness is 0.18 or less.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a zinc shop coat primer for use in high-speed welding, which has excellent weldability, workability, rustproofness, etc., by mixing a soln. of colloidal silica in an org. solvent with polyvinyl butyral and then mixing the mixture with an extender pigment, a suspending agent and zinc powder. CONSTITUTION:A soln. of colloidal silica in an org. solvent is mixed with polyvinyl butyral in a weight ratio of pref. 100:0-35 on a solid basis. The mixture is mixed with a conventional extender pigment, a conventional suspending agent and zinc powder in such an amount that the amount of zinc powder accounts for 50-70% of the resulting dry coating film, thus obtaining the desired zinc shop coat primer for use in high-speed welding. The org. solvent is evaporated from the coating film of the org. solvent type colloidal silica, whereby the dry film is converted into a completely inorg. matter which contains no hydrogen source. Since polyvinyl butyral has a low heat decomposition point and is heat-decomposed during welding and converted into a material which contains less hydrogen sources, the resulting zinc shop coat primer has excellent weldability.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an application method for forming a uniform coating film, mostly displaying an excellent anticorrosion property of a primary anticorrosion coating, on the surface of steel sheets for large structures.
      SOLUTION: A coating line, where a plurality of spray chips are arranged to be spaced each other along a direction orthogonal to a progressing direction of steel sheets for large structures to be coated, is arranged, wherein the spray chips are positioned such that each spray pattern is not duplicated and also a space between spray chips adjacent to each other in the progressing direction of steel sheets for large structures is set to be 1/n of a spray pattern width [n is an integer of 2 or more]. A step of applying an inorganic zinc primary anticorrosion coating, in one direction or reciprocatedly, on the surface of steel sheets, is repeated to form the uniform film on the surface of steel sheets.
