    • PURPOSE:To doubly provide high workability and strength by way of improving water permeability by forming an inorganic surface of a composite material hardened by way of arranging strand type inorganic fiber impregnated with thermosetting resin on the whole or a part of an inorganic particulate layer consisting of resin covered sand covered with the thermosetting resin. CONSTITUTION:Resin covered sands are made by covering the surface of inorganic particulates more than 90weight% of which are within particle diameters of 0.75-1.0mm with thermosetting resin of a 1.5-5 weight part for an inorganic particulate 100 weight part. Additionally, a chop strand of inorganic fiber 3 impregnated with the thermosetting resin is prepared. Thereafter, a laminated body with the chop strand dispersed in it is made in the resin covered sands by sequentially and alternately splashing and laminating the resin covered sands and the chop strand by specified quantity each. A composite body 1 is formed by hardening the thermosetting resin by way of thermally curing this laminated body. Consequently, the particulates are connected to each other by point adhesion, a continuous cavity is left, cavities are formed between fiber bundles and the fiber bundles and the inorganic particulates, and they are laminated and integrated.

    • PURPOSE:To provide excellent strength, lightweight properties and safety by a method wherein a plurality of thin inorg. fiber layer mats undulated in the direction right-angled to the longitudinal direction thereof are mutually laminated so that the fibers are mutually entangled in the respective layers and between them to be oriented three-dimensionally at random. CONSTITUTION:Respective layers L1-L10 of inorg. fiber sheets are pressed and contracted so as to have a shape having many corrugated undulations. Since compression force is applied to the layers L1-L10 in the thickness direction thereof at the time of pressing and contraction, the thin inorg. fiber layers f1-f10 of the respective layers L1-L10 are directed in a three-dimensionally random direction and fibers become a mutually entangled state in the respective layers L1-L10 and between them. Since the thin inorg. fiber layers f1-f10 are fixed in this state by a binder, the thin inorg. fiber layers f1-f10 are directed in three- dimensionally various directions such as a horizontal direction, a vertical direction or an oblique direction in the obtained fiber aggregate. Therefore, sufficient yield strength is obtained to the force applied in the thickness direction and compression strength is enhanced.
