    • PURPOSE:To facilitate operation and handling by detecting the motion of a device by an acceleration sensor and automatically performing automatic focusing operation when it is judged that the device is moved. CONSTITUTION:When a lamp switch 3 is closed, a system is reset and the automatic focusing operation is performed. It is judged from the output of a range finder 12 whether an in-focus state is obtained or not and when so, the operation of the acceleration sensor 13 is stopped. When not, on the other hand, a system controller 16 performs arithmetic based upon the output of the acceleration sensor 13 or outputs the driving direction and quantity of a projection lens to a focusing driving part 15 according to data stored previously in the system controller 16; and a focusing mechanism 11 is driven and controlled to drive the projection lens to a focusing position, where the range finder 12 is stopped. Therefore, the system controller 16 detects the outputs of the focus switch 4 and acceleration sensor 13 throughout the operation of a projection device.

    • PURPOSE:To perform a focusing operation with higher accuracy by displacing photographing means along an optical axis, after completion of the focusing operation, in corresponding relation to an optical distance error between all lens groups retained by a lens retainer means during the focusing operation and the photographing means. CONSTITUTION:On the basis of a photograph object distance data calculated from the output signal of a distance measuring means 15, the rotational direction and quantity of a focusing motor 12 are calculated by a system controller 16, or are selected from the previously stored data, whereby a drive signal is outputted to a motor drive circuit 17. Consequently, the motor 12 starts rotation, with rotation of the motor 12, a retainer frame 3 is rotated via a gear 13, whereby the retainer frame 3 and a first lens group 1 are displaced along an optical axis through helicoid coupling thereof with a moving member 4. Thus, focusing is done. Next, the respective positions of the first lens group 1 and second lens group 2 having a high focus sensitivity are sensed by high resolution position sensors 20, 21. Then, the amount of error of the focusing plane, as measured along the optical axis, corresponding to the amount of error of each lens group as measured from a specified position, is determined. The CCD 18 is driven by the amount of error toward optical axis to cause focusing operation accurately.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain accurate focusing control by changing an optical axis direction interval from an image pickup mean stepwise and comparing the outputs of a signal forming means at respective interval points to control the image pickup means in a focusing state. CONSTITUTION:The optical axis direction interval from the image pickup means 42 is changed stepwise and the outputs of the signal forming means respective optical axis direction intervals are compared with each other to control the means 42 in the focusing state. After zooming based upon a motor 28, a system control circuit 60 moves the element 42 in one direction of the optical axis direction stepwise by means of a motor driving circuit 49 and a motor 48. Namely, the movable range of the element 42 is divided into plural areas based upon the allowable blur circle of an image pickup face and focal depth calculated from a stop value at the time of photographing and the element 42 is moved to the representative points of respective areas in steps. The outputs of a detector at respective representative points are stored in an internal memory and the element 42 is moved to the representative point having the maximum output of the detector 58.

    • PURPOSE:To accurately obtain a focusing state within a short time by adjusting the position of a focusing optical system, then adjusting the position of the focusing optical system by the output of a signal forming means. CONSTITUTION:After adjusting the position of the focusing optical system in accordance with distance information, the position of the optical system is adjusted again by the output of the signal forming means. In a stage for moving a focusing lens 10 in accordance with the output of a distance measuring circuit 40, the lens 10 is moved to a position shifted to the side of an image pickup element 42 by a prescribed distance. While moving the lens 10 stepwise in each prescribed distance, a system control circuit 60 stores the outputs of a detector 58 at respective moving points in an internal memory, detects the point of the maximum output, and moves the lens 10 up to the position. Thus, the real focusing state can be rapidly and accurately obtained.
