    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable preferable ejection without generating ejection failure of ink droplets such as droplet split by time division of an ejection energy generating means into a plurality of groups in a predetermined driving cycle, and providing a driving means for providing a predetermined relationship in the driving interval among the groups. SOLUTION: A CPU 10 controls each part of the apparatus according to a processing procedure stored in a ROM 10A and a work area of a RAM 10B. The CPU 10 supplies driving data of a heat generating member and a driving signal to a head driver 30A so that a printing head 30 ejects ink droplets. The CPU 10 controls a carriage by a motor 20 via a motor driver 20A as well as a paper feeding motor by a motor driver 50A for the time division drive of an energy generating means in a plurality of groups. Among a plurality of driving intervals of the groups, the driving interval in the groups to be driven later is provided larger than the driving interval in the groups to be driven earlier so as to prevent generation of ejection with droplet split.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording head in which refill frequency can be maximized while sustaining the linearity of image even in case of time sharing drive and throughput of a printer can be enhanced. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recording head having a plurality of ink ejection openings 3 and heaters 2 disposed oppositely thereto in order to generate thermal energy being used for ejecting ink wherein they are sectioned into a plurality of blocks being driven sequentially in the same drive period while sharing the time, the plurality of heaters 2 are arranged substantially linearly and the ink ejection openings 3 are arranged in such a projection relationship as corresponding to the time sharing driving order while being shifted from the heaters 2. Alternatively, the plurality of ink ejection openings 3 are arranged substantially linearly and the heaters 2 are arranged in such a projection relationship as corresponding to the time sharing driving order while being shifted from the ink ejection openings 3.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a stable recording operation regardless of the number of recording elements, by making it possible to control a driving power in accordance with a count of recording elements driven at the same time. SOLUTION: A block including a plurality of recording elements (nozzles) which can be driven at the same time is selected by a block signal 1 and a decoder 2. A counter 8 counts black pixels of input image data, thereby obtaining a count of nozzles to be driven to discharge among the plurality of nozzles in the block. A pulse width control circuit determines a width of driving pulses to be impressed to heat-generating elements 3 of the plurality of nozzles in the block on the basis of the number of nozzles to be driven which is obtained by the counter 8. The image data are input to a shift register 6 as well. Recording elements to be driven among the plurality of recording elements in the block are determined and driven with the pulse width determined by the pulse width control circuit, whereby the ink is discharged from each nozzle.
