    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compact and simple-constitution light scanning optical device that the fluctuation of aberration with respect to environmental fluctuation (specially, temperature change) can be excellently corrected and whose characteristic with respect to environment is excellent. SOLUTION: This light scanning optical device is constituted so that a surface to be scanned 8 is scanned with light by guiding luminous flux optically modulated and emitted from a light source means 1 according to an image signal to a deflection means 5 and guiding the luminous flux deflected by the deflection means 5 to the surface to be scanned 8 through a scanning lens system 11 The lens system 11 is constituted of a single scanning lens 6. The lens 6 is formed so that the first surface thereof on the deflection means 5 side is constituted of the aspherical surface and the second surface thereof on the surface to be scanned 8 side is constituted of the surface whose code of the radius of curvature is fixed within a horizontal scanning cross section surface. Besides, a diffraction grating is formed at the second surface.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve encoding efficiency and to reduce picture quality degradation after decoding when processing an original mixing color images and black- and-white images by discriminating area characteristics corresponding to whether an image signal in a prescribed area is an image transmitted from the rear side of color original or not and performing encoding corresponding to the discriminated characteristics. SOLUTION: When reading and processing the original mixing color images and black-and-white images, for each prescribed area in image data read by an image input part 10, an image processing part 11 first discriminates whether the area is a black-and-white area or not and when it is not the black-and-white area, by discriminating the existence of dots, it is discriminated whether it is the image transmitted from the rear side of color original or not. When it is the transmitted image, that area is discriminated as the blackand-white area but when it is not the transmitted image, that area is discriminated as a color area. Encoding is performed to the black-and-white character parts by MMR but in the other case, after compression encoding is performed by JPEG, it is transmitted from a communication part 14.
