摘要： A moving image data management apparatus which manages moving image data and representative image data by using one or plural representative image data in correspondence with each moving image data. A thumbnail representing an arbitrary section in a moving image represented by moving image data is generated, and stored in a thumbnail area of the moving image file. Indexes corresponding to the respective thumbnails are stored in an index area of the moving image file. Each index includes start point/end point indicating a section in moving image data represented by the thumbnail image and attribute information indicating usage of the thumbnail. By this attribute information, operability of moving image data using representative images can be improved upon execution of various moving image data processing, and management of the representative images can be simplified.

摘要： A moving image data management apparatus which manages moving image data and representative image data by using one or plural representative image data in correspondence with each moving image data. A thumbnail representing an arbitrary section in a moving image represented by moving image data is generated, and stored in a thumbnail area of the moving image file. Indexes corresponding to the respective thumbnails are stored in an index area of the moving image file. Each index includes start point/end point indicating a section in moving image data represented by the thumbnail image and attribute information indicating usage of the thumbnail. By this attribute information, operability of moving image data using representative images can be improved upon execution of various moving image data processing, and management of the representative images can be simplified.

摘要： An AV data recording/reproducing apparatus and method capable of reliably reproducing all the frames in the apparatus or via the 1394 interface even when the reproduction start point is in the middle of a file. The apparatus includes a video recording block for recording video data as a video file composed of an MPEG transport packet, and a video reproducing block for recording, immediately before a transport packet containing a GOP header in the video file, a transport packet containing a PAT (program association table) and a transport packet containing a PMT (program map table) and reproducing video data composed of an MPEG transport packet. When reproduction is started at the beginning of the GOP header contained in the video data, the transport packet containing the PAT and the transport packet containing the PMT and after are reproduced.

摘要： The present invention provides an AV data recording apparatus and method that facilitate various processes concerning a recorded video, including continuous reproduction, digital transmission, file operation, partial deletion, and post-recording. The AV data recording apparatus divides an audio signal and a video signal into transport packets having a predetermined unit length, assembles a plurality of transport packets as one transport stream and executes recording. Accordingly, this invention enables managing whether a logical block is used or not, detecting a continuous data area comprising plural logical blocks that ensure realtime continuous reproduction, and determining logical block numbers of continuous data areas to be recorded. As a result, the transport stream is recorded continuously on a plurality of detected continuous data areas.
