    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide implantable prosthesis especially suitable for the repair of soft tissue and muscle wall openings to repair or augment anatomical weakness or deficiency. SOLUTION: The prosthesis 20 is configured to augment the tissue ingrowth, and at the same time, to limit the incidence of post-operative adhesion of the fabric to the tissue or organs. The prosthesis 20 may include a fabric layer 22 configured and disposed to permit the tissue ingrowth and is susceptible to the formation of adhesion for the tissue or organs. At least one barrier 114 and 116 are provided on a selected part of the fabric to prevent the formation of adhesion with the tissue or organs. The prosthesis 20 has an opening 30 configured to receive esophagus or other tubular structures, other projections passing through an opening in or projects from a tissue, muscles or organ walls which require repair and/or augmentation.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prosthesis which is easy to manipulate and is designed to minimize the incidence of postoperative adhesions between a portion of the prosthesis and surrounding tissue or organs. SOLUTION: The implantable prosthesis 20 for an anatomical defect, such as a tissue or muscle defect, promotes tissue or muscle growth into the prosthesis and subsequently strengthens the area of the defect. At least one pocket and preferably two concentric pockets may be provided to aid with manipulating the prosthesis 20. The incidence of postoperative adhesions between a portion of the prosthesis and tissue, muscle, or organs may be minimized with the use of a barrier layer 30. Reinforcing members 50 may be attached to portions of the prosthesis to aid in positioning and deployment in the area of desired coverage. Typically, two concentric members are employed. Further, the prosthesis 20 is constructed to allow it to be provisionally held in place at desired locations by openings 64 in the pockets that allow access for a stapler or sewing device.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an implantable prosthesis which aims at repairing or augmenting anatomical weaknesses or defects, and is particularly suitable for the repair of soft tissue and muscle wall openings. SOLUTION: The prosthesis includes a repair fabric that has an almost triangular shape body and two tail portions extended outward away from the base portion of the body. The tail portions are rounded so as to provide the repair fabric with a heart shape configuration. An opening is provided between the two tail potions and adapted to receive a tube-like structure, such as the esophagus along the base portion of the body. The prosthesis is constructed and arranged to allow tissue ingrowth and includes a fabric layer susceptible to erosion into and the formation of adhesions with tissue and organs. One or more regions of the prosthesis may be configured so as to inhibit erosion into and/or the formation of adhesions with tissue and organs. The prosthesis may include an edge barrier attached to the tail portions and covering a part of the opening.
