    • In a display apparatus having a backlight unit, a light unit includes plural light source strings commonly connected to an output terminal of a boosting circuit to generate light in response to a light source driving voltage. The light source strings are grouped into plural light generating groups. Plural driving circuits are respectively connected to the light generating groups, and each driving circuit sequentially outputs feedback voltages from the light source strings of a corresponding light generating group. A minimum voltage detecting circuit compares the feedback voltages with each other from the driving circuits to detect a minimum voltage and outputs a control signal according to the detected minimum voltage. A voltage control circuit controls a voltage level of the light source driving voltage in response to the control signal. Accordingly, although the number of the driving circuits increases, power consumption used in each driving circuit may be reduced.

    • A backlight unit includes a driving circuit outputting a driving voltage, light source strings, a first feedback circuit, a first current control circuit, a second feedback circuit, and a second current control circuit. Each light source string includes light sources and receives the driving voltage to generate light. The first feedback circuit outputs a first control signal based on a measured current at input terminals of the light source strings. The first current control circuit receives the driving voltage and controls a strength of the current input at the input terminals based on the first control signal. The second feedback circuit outputs a second control signal based on a measured current at each output terminal of the light source strings. The second current control circuit controls a strength of a current output at each output terminal of the light source strings.

    • A backlight driving circuit for a display apparatus includes a receiver, a signal modulation detector and a driver. The receiver receives a clock signal and a brightness data signal by a serial transmission and in response to an enable signal. The brightness data signal is synchronized with the clock signal and includes brightness information. The signal modulation detector detects a modulation of the brightness data signal, based on at least one of the clock signal and the enable signal, and outputs a control signal based on a detected result thereof. The driver receives the brightness data signal, in synchronization with the clock signal, selects one of the brightness data signal and a predetermined reference brightness data signal in response to the control signal, generates a driving voltage using the selected brightness data signal, and provides the driving voltage to the backlight unit to control the brightness of the backlight unit.
