摘要： A propellant strip assembly for use in propellant actuated fastener driving tools. The assembly includes a carrying strip which contains a plurality of pockets which each hold a propellant charge and a sensitizer to activate the charge. The carrying strip is adhesively joined to a cover strip to isolate the individual charges, and each pocket is also sealed around its periphery to further improve the isolation. The cover strip may contain a ribbed section to physically separate the charge and sensitizer within each pocket to aid in prevention of accidental ignition.

摘要： A hybrid inflator that includes a solid propellant and a pressurized medium comprising oxygen and at least one inert gas is provided. The solid propellant can be fuel-rich in that without excess oxygen it generates significant amounts of CO and H2. The at least one inert gas is contained in an inflator housing and the amount thereof is greater, on a molar basis, than the oxygen. The propellant has acceptable long-term stability in that such propellant does not ignite when exposed to a temperature of 107° C. for a period of 400 hours.

摘要： Provided is an inflator for providing propellant gases to inflate a bag of an automotive safety system for restraining an occupant of a vehicle in which the inflator is a pure pyrotechnic inflator that generates propellant gases that are substantially free of metal-containing particulate and condensable materials without requiring storage of a pressurized gas. The propellant gases are generated from a solid gas-generating propellant composition including two components. A first component is fuel-rich and has a fast burn rate. The second component is a oxidizer that, although having a slow burn rate, operates in combination with the first component at an acceptably fast burn rate to oxidize carbon monoxide and/or hydrogen produced during combustion of the first component to carbon dioxide and/or water, respectively.
