    • In accordance with one or more embodiments, systems and methods for exchanging data over a network include communicating with a user via a portable communication device over the network, interacting with the user via an interactive software application, receiving a request for service bulletin data related to at least one aircraft from the user via the portable communication device, accessing service bulletin data related to the at least one aircraft from a database component based on a registry number associated with the at least one aircraft passed with the request from the user, and transferring service bulletin data related to the at least one aircraft from the database component to the portable communication device via the network for viewing by the user on the portable communication device.

    • A method and apparatus for indicating an inconsistency. An apparatus comprises a platform, a location system, a transducer system, a projector system, and a data processing system. The platform is configured to move on a surface of an object. The location system is configured to generate location information for the platform on the surface of the object. The transducer system is configured to send signals into the object and receive a response to the signals. The projector system is configured to project an image onto the surface of the object. The data processing system is configured to generate the image using the response. An indication of an inconsistency in the image projected onto the surface of the object corresponds to a location of the inconsistency in the object. The data processing system is configured to control the projector system to project the image onto the surface of the object.

For example in accordance with an embodiment of the invention, a system for remote inspection includes a nondestructive inspection (NDI) system configured to examine a structure and provide NDI data related to a damage condition of the structure, the NDI system being configured to communicate the NDI data to a remote location; and a remote computer disposed at the remote location, the remote computer being configured to receive the NDI data and provide the received NDI data for a review, the remote computer being configured to communicate an analytical result based on the review to the NDI system, the analytical result including a repair disposition decision corresponding to the damage condition.

    • A system and method for determining whether an aircraft is ready to fly or should be repaired in light of damage and/or malfunction information observed at the departure gate includes observing damage or malfunction, alerting decision-makers, and initiating an automated interview session via a camera equipped communications device to a remote server running query driven decision and data analysis software. Data entered via the communications device, equipped with a keypad and camera for obtaining visual information, is transmitted to the remotely based software application. The software generates requests for information based on prior received information, processes and provides the information to decision-makers at remote locations. The communications device transmits decision-making support information concerning repair or dispatch. The communication device may be a wireless cell phone with a digital camera. The method and system produce a report for making repair and dispatch decisions concerning the aircraft. The information is stored in a database for statistical analysis.
