摘要： A cutting tool has a cutter body, which carries a cutting insert, and an adapter, which has a longitudinal adapter axis, wherein a locking screw attaches the cutter body to the adapter. A coolant volume is defined in a vicinity of a meeting of the cutter body, the adapter and the locking screw. The adapter contains an axial adapter bore. The locking screw contains a transverse locking screw bore in fluid communication with the axial adapter bore. The locking screw further contains a peripheral transverse locking screw bore passage in fluid communication with the coolant volume and the transverse locking screw bore. The coolant volume and the transverse locking screw bore are in fluid communication with the cutter body coolant passage.

摘要： A rotary cutting tool that is composed of a tool shank with at least one chucking groove or chip flute and one exchangeable cutting insert. At the tip of the shank a recess for accommodating the cutting insert is provided. The tool shank, on its circumference, has a limb with a bearing surface that is inclined relative to the tool axis and that corresponds to a likewise inclined bearing surface on a wing of the cutting insert. The inclination of the bearing surfaces produces an axial force that retains the cutting insert on the tool shank.

A cutting insert includes a hole extending from a bottom surface. A tapered pin includes a lower portion and a tapered upper portion. A spring engages the lower portion of the tapered pin and provides an upward biasing force on the tapered pin. A center axis of the tapered pin is closer to the radial support wall than a center axis of the hole of the cutting insert such that the tapered pin exerts pressure against the hole of the cutting insert to cause one of the side walls of the cutting insert to be forced against the radial support wall of the insert pocket when the cutting insert is mounted in the insert pocket.

摘要： A toolholder includes a body portion having an exterior surface and a dynamic absorber mounted on the exterior surface of the body portion. The dynamic absorber includes a rigid support member, a cover member, and an absorber mass disposed within a cavity formed by the rigid support member and the cover member. A first resilient support member is disposed between the rigid support member and the absorber mass, and a second resilient support member is disposed between the cover member and the absorber mass. The dynamic absorber is tuned by moving the cover member relative to the rigid support member. A method of suppressing vibrations of the toolholder includes externally mounting the dynamic absorber on the exterior surface of the toolholder.
