    • A lightweight merchandise distribution system for online group-buying is provided. The distribution system comprises a computer server, a plurality of small distribution centers, and a plurality of delivery entities. The computer server comprises a merchandise sales-prediction module and a distribution center-optimization module. Before a product is featured on a group-buying website, the number of small distribution centers is set up in a densely populated city based on the center-optimization result. The featured product is then pre-allocated to each distribution center based on the sales-prediction result. Each delivery entity comprises a delivery person, a wireless handheld device, and a delivery vehicle. The delivery person preloads the featured products onto the delivery vehicle before receiving any order. The delivery person delivers the ordered product by the delivery vehicle once the purchase order is received from the wireless handheld device.

    • A method for conducting a payment transaction using a smart wallet is proposed. The smart wallet accepts financial account information input by a consumer. The smart wallet stores the financial account information and transmits the financial account information to a smart wallet management server. When the consumer shops at a store, the smart wallet displays a list of merchandise purchased at the store and a total payment amount of the purchased merchandise. The smart wallet also provides a recommendation for making the payment amount. Finally, the smart wallet transmits a payment request to the smart wallet management server such that the payment is authorized and the payment transaction is completed. In one embodiment, the smart wallet can be used as a key to access shared mailboxes, resulting in significant improvement on package delivery operations for both couriers and consumers.

    • A system and method of providing online location-based time-sensitive deals are proposed. An online retailer accepts an instant deal submitted by a merchant. The instant deal is a discounted service provided by the merchant at a geographic location. The instant deal is approved only if the merchant is qualified and if the deal is qualified based on a set of pre-configured rules. The online retailer advertises a deal coupon for the discounted service during a limited time for a limited quantity to consumers located near the geographic location. In one example, the geographic location is defined by a business district or a landmark. When a buyer places a purchase order, the deal coupon is delivered to the buyer. The deal coupon is redeemable during a limited time without additional reservation. If the buyer does not redeem the coupon within the limited time, the purchase amount is automatically refunded.
