    • An applicator and an electro-mechanical applicator drive system for automatically emptying the liquid components from respective syringes in a controlled manner for co-applying fibrin sealant components with a gas to form a spray. The applicator drive system includes a piston elevator section which moves the syringe pistons of the respective syringes in unison. The applicator drive system further includes at least one syringe piston force sensor which senses a force required by the piston elevator section to move at least one of the syringe pistons forward and outputs a force sensor signal. A controller is provided which controls movement of a piston elevator of the piston elevator section based on the force sensor signal.

    • A set finishing apparatus and method adapted for use with an image producing machine discharging sheets of paper in sets that are arranged for finishing is disclosed which may comprise: a moveable set finishing unit having a home position and a plurality of set finishing station positions located generally along a longitudinal axis, and having at least at each finishing station position a retracted position and an operating position, with each respective finishing station retracted position and operating position displaced from each other generally orthogonally to the longitudinal axis; a drive motor having an output drive shaft; a translational drive mechanism comprising a rotating shaft mounted generally parallel to the to the longitudinal axis and operatively connected to the drive motor output drive shaft and adapted to rotate in a rotating direction in response to rotation of the drive motor output drive shaft in a rotating direction; and, the moveable set finishing station being operatively connected to the rotating shaft of the translational drive mechanism in such a way as to be moved sequentially through each of the set finishing station positions and returned to the home position without changing the rotating direction of the drive motor output drive shaft or the rotating direction of the translational drive mechanism rotating shaft. The translational drive mechanism may be adapted to move the moveable set finishing unit out of the retracted position and into the operating position by changing the rotating direction of the drive motor output shaft. The translational drive mechanism rotating shaft may further comprise: an generally cylindrical outer surface of the rotating shaft having formed therein a traveling track groove; and the moveable set finishing unit may further comprise: a traveling track groove follower attached to the moveable set finishing unit and adapted to engage the traveling track groove and move within the traveling track groove when the translational drive mechanism rotating shaft is rotated.

    • An apparatus is adapted to centrifuge and furthermore automatically handle a container (10) for separating a component, such as fibrin monomer, from plasma. The container (10) comprises a cylindrical member (11) and a piston (25) displaceable therein and comprising a tubular piston rod (12), which extends through the top wall. The piston (25) divides the cylindrical member (11) into a first chamber positioned above said piston (25) between said piston and said top wall and a second chamber positioned below said piston (25). The apparatus comprises a supporting turntable (1) with means for releasably retaining the cylindrical member (11), said supporting turntable being connected to a first activating mechanism (5) for rotating the supporting turntable (1) with the container (10) about the central axis thereof. The apparatus comprises furthermore a rotatably journalled piston activating mechanism (13, 15, 16) adapted to activate the piston by means of a second activating means (21). A heat-emitting device (26, 27) is provided opposite the position of the cylindrical member (11) in the apparatus.

    • An apparatus for centrifuging and furthermore automatically handling a container (10) for separating a component, such as fibrin monomer, from plasma, where the container (10) comprises a cylindrical member (11) with a lower rim as well as a piston member (12) with a tubular piston rod (12) projecting upwardly from the upper end of the cylindrical member (11). The apparatus comprises a supporting turntable (1) with a first gripping member (27) releasably gripping the lower rim of the cylindrical member (11) when the container is placed thereon, the supporting turntable being connected to a first activator (5) for rotating the turntable (1) with the container (10) about the central axis thereof. Furthermore, the apparatus comprises a rotatably journalled piston activating mechanism adapted to activate the piston (12) by way of a second activator (21) and provided with a second gripping member (13) for releasably gripping the piston rod (12). The first gripping member (27) is adapted to automatically enter a locking engagement with the inner side of the cylindrical member (11) independent of the rotating position of the container (10) relative to the supporting turntable (1) and upon activation of a third activator (8) when the container (10) is placed on the supporting turntable (1). The second gripping member (13) is adapted to succeedingly and automatically enter a locking engagement with the piston rod (12) upon activation of a fourth activator (15).
