    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large steel H beam which is divided into upper and lower sections or into upper and lower end sections, and facilitates assembly of the divided sections in the construction field.
      SOLUTION: The steel H beam is formed of: a steel H beam upper block 1 consisting of an upper flange 1a, upper vertical stiffener plates 2 for preventing buckling, and upper connection plates 4 to be mounted on columns 9, respectively; and a steel H beam lower block 6 consisting of a lower flange 6a, lower vertical stiffener plates 7 for preventing buckling, and lower connection plates 8 to be mounted on the column 9, respectively. The steel H beam lower block 6 has a vertical partition plate 3 which doubles as a horizontal stiffener plate for preventing buckling and as a connection plate between the upper block 1 and the lower block 6. Thus the steel H beam is set up by connecting the vertical partition plate 3, the upper vertical stiffener plates 2, and the upper connection plates 4 together.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seismic tie capable of increasing the vibrational energy absorbing performance of the body of a boiler and reducing the seismic load acting on a support structure.SOLUTION: A seismic tie is installed between a support structure comprising a plurality of columns and beams and the body of a boiler hung down from an upper beam and absorbs seismic vibration energy. The seismic tie assumes a hinge coupling structure comprising a link made of elastic member and a pin material 16 made of elastic member, wherein the pin material 16 has in its center a bearing part 16C having circular section, and has a pin spindle shape cut-processed part 16B comprising a web 16W formed by partially cutting work in spindle shape in such a fashion that the diameter decreases gradually toward a hinge coupling part and a flange 16F remaining at the outer edge of the web part. The web 16W is shaped so that its two sides are cut flat in the pin axial direction, and on the section perpendicular to the pin axial direction, the ratio of the flange section area to the section area of the web ranges between 1.3 and 1.7.

    • PURPOSE:To improve working efficiency and safety at a job site by composing the joining section of steel pipe columns with an inset backing strip, divided up into plural numbers, provided on the inside of the joining section of one of the steel pipe columns, and a fixing member for connecting the inset backing strip with the other steel pipe column when the inset backing strip is inserted into the other steel pipe column. CONSTITUTION:An inset backing strip 3 and a receiving backing strip 5 divided into plural numbers are fitted on the inside of the bottom side steel pipe column 1 and an abutting backing strip 4 is fitted on the inside of the top side steel pipe column 2 at a factory. After insertion, the inset backing strip 3 and the top side steel pipe column 2 are fastened together with a bolt 6. Under this condition, the top and bottom columns become possible to transmit force with each other through the backing strip 3 and a temporary joining is formed. The abutting backing strip 4 and the receiving backing strip 5 not only set a root gap 16 for assuring sufficient weld penetration of the first pass during welding but also prevent welding defects caused by blow-by of the first pass bead and serve to secure a sound welding joint. Thus efficiency and safety of the steel frame construction work can be improved.
