    • Steam cooking process comprises applying preparation duration such as heating time, cooking time and standing time for the entire cooking process depending on the type of product (I) to be cooked and independent on the characteristics of (I) such as weight, consistency and/or temperature. The sum of the heating time and the standing time is given independent of the characteristics of (I). The heating time and the standing time are lengthened or shortened in opposite direction to each other depending on the characteristics of (I). Steam cooking process comprises applying preparation duration such as heating time, cooking time and standing time for the entire cooking process dependent on the type of product (I) to be cooked and independent on the characteristics of (I) such as weight, consistency and/or temperature. The sum of the heating time and the standing time is given independent of the characteristics of (I). The heating time and the standing time are lengthened and shortened in opposite direction to each other depending on the characteristics of (I). The heating time is changed depending on the weight of (I) and is increased with a larger weight of (I). First and second references of the characteristic of (I) are used to determine first and second heating time. The time difference between the first and the second heating time is used as standing time in the cooking process, in which the characteristics of (I) provide the first heating time. Maximum value of the weight of (I) is given dependent on operation limits of the cooking device and may be equal to zero depending on the preparation duration for the type of (I), its characteristic values and the standing time. The resulting heating time defines a maximum heating time and is stored as reference heating time. The time difference between the stored reference heating time and the first heating time determined during the cooking process is used as the standing time in the cooking process. (I) is prepared using a steam cooker and the heating time is determined based on the temperature value of the specific objects during the cooking process. The temperature in the cooking chamber of the cooking device and/or the temperature of (I) and/or the temperature of the water for producing a steam in the cooking chamber are considered when determining the heating time.
