    • In a particular configuration, the fence is based on a woven plastic, opt., brightly colored strip (3) supported at a suitable height. The warp filaments include a number of stainless steel wires which consequently appear alternately on either side of the strip and so come into contact with the animals to be controlled. An insulated (5) longitudinal, high-conductivity, e.g. copper, conductor (4) is also incorporated in the warp, or stitched to the strip; this is connected at one end to the power source. At regular intervals, e.g. at each support and at joints between successive sections, the copper conductor's insulating sheath is removed and the bare conductor is connected to the adjacent stainless steel filaments using clamps (5); in which the strip is compressed between two flat bars with tightening screws at each end. In a variant, stainless steel strands are laid up helically directly on through conductor's insulating sheath, which is removed at intervals to permit the necessary interconnections.
