    • The invention relates to a three-stage method for recovering chlorine from a waste-gas stream containing chlorine. According to said method, in a first stage A) the waste gas stream is compressed, in a second stage B) the waste gas stream resulting from the first stage is cooled and the chlorine contained therein is partially or completely isolated by condensation, together with some of the other condensable or soluble components contained in the gas and the condensate obtained is brought into contact with the waste gas stream entering the second stage in counter-current in a gas-liquid contact zone lying beneath the condensation zone. In a third stage C), the condensate exiting the second stage is separated in a rectification column into a chlorine-rich bottom stream and a gaseous and a liquid head stream that are chlorine-lean. The chlorine-rich bottom stream is reprocessed to obtain chlorine.
