    • The invention relates to a method for producing polyester polyols having secondary hydroxyl terminal groups, comprising the step of reacting polyester comprising carboxyl terminal groups with an epoxide of the general formula (1), where R1 stands for an alkyl radical or an aryl radical, and the reaction is performed in the presence of a catalyst comprising at least one nitrogen atom per molecule. The method is characterized in that the polyester comprising carboxyl terminal groups has an acid number of = 25 mg KOH/g to = 400 mg KOH/g and a hydroxyl number of = 5 mg KOH/g, and that the polyester comprising carboxyl terminal groups is produced in that = 1.03 mol to = 1.90 mol of carboxyl groups or carboxyl group equivalents of an acid component are added per mol of hydroxyl groups of an alcohol. The polyester polyols comprising secondary hydroxyl terminal groups thus obtained can be used for producing polyurethane polymers.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an NCO prepolymer which can form a stable and homogeneous or stable transparent melt and which has viscosity usable at the processing temperature.
      SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the stable NCO prepolymer having an NCO content of 2.5-6% by weight and viscosity at 100°C of lower than 5,000 mPa s comprises manufacturing a prepolymer by (a) reacting a polyisocyanate (1) with a melting point of above 70°C and a polyol (2) with a specific average molecular weight, viscosity and number of functional groups, at 80°C-240°C and in a ratio of the NCO groups to OH groups of 1.55:1 to 2.35:1 to give a prepolymer, and then by (b) cooling the prepolymer obtained at the (a) step in such a manner that the residence times of the prepolymer in respective temperature ranges are the followings: (A) not to exceed 0.5 hour at the (a) step termination temperature-130°C, (B) not to exceed 1.5 hours at the (a) step termination temperature-110°C, (C) not to exceed 7.5 hours at the (a) step termination temperature-90°C, and (D) not to exceed 72 hours at the (a) step termination temperature-70°C, without removing an unreacted polyisocyanate being present after the cooling.
