    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for producing a water-absorbing polymer particle, and especially to provide improved drying of aqueous polymer gel produced in the method.SOLUTION: The method for producing a water-absorbing polymer is provided, in which a monomer solution is polymerized and the obtained hydrogel is dried by using warmed gas flow. In the method, the drying is performed in at least two temperature regions, and gas introduction temperatures of the temperature regions satisfy the conditions that Tis not equal to T, wherein n and a are each an integer greater than 0, and/or the gas flow is flowed to the hydrogel from underneath in the anterior portion of a belt dryer and from above in the posterior portion of the dryer, and reversal of the flow is carried out when the water content of the hydrogel is 15-45 mass%, and/or the gas flow is flowed to the hydrogel layer at least partially from underneath in the dryer, wherein the gas velocity is 5-30% of the gas velocity necessary for the hydrogel to separate from the belt.
