    • The invention relates to a bonding agent, preferably for a lacquer, which may be hardened by high-energy radiation and/or thermally and which contains a mixture of substances (a) having a monomer or polymer component including at least one vinyl ether, vinyl ester, (meth)acrylic and/or allyl group, and (b) containing saturated and/or unsaturated polymers different from component (a) as additional component, with the proviso that at least one of components (a), (b) contains structural units of general formulae (I) and/or (II) and the additional component (b) contains structural units of general formulae (I) and/or (II) at least when said component contains saturated polymers. The invention also relates to a method for the production of the bonding agent and a preparation containing the bonding agent according to the invention. Said preparation is obtained in the form of a pigmented or non-pigmented lacquer or a powder lacquer. The invention also relates to a working method for the production of lacquer coatings, wherein after application, said coatings are hardened thermally and/or by radiation with UV light or electron beams.

    • A friction smoke generator is indicated, which can be used in association with smoking chambers of any design and in which a squared timber, which is used for smoke generation and is guided displaceably in a vertical guide device, can be pressed with defined minimum force against the friction wheel which is driven by an electric drive motor. For this purpose, there is provided an anchor member which engages on the squared timber, can be driven by a drive device, presses the squared timber against the friction wheel and is alternatively designed as a profiled piece which is supported on the end of the squared timber at a distance from the friction wheel or as a gripper which engages on the end of the squared timber close to the friction wheel. For appropriate driving of the anchor member,cable pull, chains, spindle drives and, in the case of the anchor member being designed as a gripper, dual-action pneumatic working cylinders are provided. By means of a control device which responds to the speed of the friction-wheel drive motor, the force, with which the squared timber is pressed against the friction wheel, can be kept in a favourably low variation range. The course of smoke generation phases and pauses is controlled in such a manner that, after starting of the friction wheel, the pressing of the squared timber on the latter is first triggered with a time delay and, before the friction wheel drive is switched off, the friction wheel is relieved, e.g. by lifting the squared timber, as a result of which a low-noise and gentle operation of the friction smoke generator is achieved.
