    • In the production of dispersion foam by emulsion copolymerization of dienes and olefins, the average particle size and distribution of the final coarse dispersion are adjusted by varying the solid content of the fine dispersion, agglomeration conditions, olefin comonomer content, emulsifier concentration and/or agglomeration throughput. A process for the production of polymer dispersion foam (L) comprises: (a) radical emulsion polymerisation of a mixture (M) of conjugated diene monomer(s) (A) and olefinic comonomer(s) (B) in presence of emulsifier(s) to form a finely divided polymer dispersion (P), (b) pressure-agglomeration of (P) to a coarse dispersion (G), (c) optional concentration of (G) and optional mixing with a booster dispersion and (d) expansion to give foam (L). The average particle size and the particle size distribution of (G) are adjusted by varying; (1) the solid content of (P), (2) the agglomeration temperature in stage (b), (3) the agglomeration pressure in (b), (4) the content of comonomer (B) in mixture (M), (5) the concentration of emulsifier in (P) and/or (6) the throughput in agglomeration. Independent claims are also included for: (1) polymer dispersions (G) (optionally concentrated or mixed with a resin dispersion H) obtained by this process; (2) polymer dispersion foam (L) obtained by this process.
