摘要： A sensor 10 suitable for measuring the pressure applied by a bandage, the sensor 10 being in the form of an elongate strip having a plurality of pads arranged along its length, wherein the sensor 10 includes a connection 16 to each pad, whereby the pressure applied to each pad can be determined independently, wherein each pad is inflatable to form an expanded pad protruding above the surface of the strip, and deflatable so that it does not impede removal of the sensor 10 from the bandage. Such a sensor 10 is primarily intended for single use, i.e. is disposable.

摘要： An implantable prosthesis intended, primarily for the repair of muscle wall defects such as occur in inguinal hernias is fabricated from a surgically compatible mesh material having a prismatic external mesh wall 1. The prismatic shape includes three lobes 2, providing a generally triangular cross-sectional shape. The shape is maintained by internal reinforcing ribs 3, which here extend the length of the prism. The ribs are formed through the connection of three individual mesh strips 4, with each rib comprising two strip parts forming a lamination extending the length of the prism. With this construction closure of elongate legions is readily achieved and a wide range of elongate shapes and dimensions of hernias can be treated.

For storage, the capsules may be inflated and deflated as required by means of an air inlet valve (35, Fig. 4). The second layer is preferably formed with a fluid pervious top layer 5 and a fluid impervious bottom layer.
