摘要： A perforating gun system having a relief system for relieving high pressure during unexpected high temperature or situations that may produce rupture of the gun body. The relief system may be responsive either to high temperatures as well as high pressures. In the high temperature situation, the relief system has a fuseable link that melts thereby allowing movement of a piston to open vent communication between the inside of a gun body in the ambient conditions. Similarly, a pressure device includes a piston responsive to pressure that moves under high pressure within the gun body thereby exposing a port enabling communication between the inside of the gun body and the ambient conditions.

摘要： A method used to prevent the accidental dropping of a down hole tool into a well bore involves arranging a blow out prevention device so that it prevents the tool, which is being removed through it, from falling down hole. The method may involve providing a pair of opposing ram blocks [10], each having a semi-circular opening [12], which are pushed together to form a bore [14]. There may be a number of slips [18] which are able to move up and down on guide posts [20] in recesses [16] of the ram blocks [10], and the slips [18] may be downwardly biassed towards the lower surface [24] of the recesses [16] by springs. The recesses [16] may have tapered surfaces [26] to match tapered surfaces [28] on the slips [18] and be arranged so that upward movement of the slips [18] causes them to move away from the centre of the bore [14]. A tool being pulled out of a well through the bore [14] may be brought into contact with the slips [18]. This then places an upwards force on the slips [18] which moves them upwardly and outwardly, against the bias, allowing the tool to pass through them. If the tool is then accidentally released, the upwards force stops and the downwards bias forces the slips [18] down the tapered surfaces [26] of the recesses [16]. As they move downwards, the slips [18] are forced towards the tool by the tapered surfaces [26], and the serrations [30] bite into the tool and prevent it from falling.
