摘要： A detector system for use in a scanning electron microscope. The detector system comprises means for supplying a primary electron beam to the surface of a sample positioned in the detector in use. A specimen is support positioned in the path of the primary electron beam; and first and second electrodes arranged to create an asymmetric field such that secondary electrons are attracted in use to the first electrode and excess ions are removed in use by the second electrode from the region of the sample which is irradiated by the primary electron beam. There is also means for amplifying the output of one of the electrodes to produce a detection signal.

摘要： 12,279. Baker, F. May 30. Clutches; brakes. -Relates to friction clutches or brakes applicable to power plants, machines, and changespeed gears for motor cars &c. Upon discs a, b, fixed respectively upon the driving and driven shafts c, d, are mounted the clutch members, which consist of a c ir cum f e rential series of segmental brake blocks e, f, alternate circular blocks being attached to either disc, as shown in Fig. 1, by means of shoulders or lugs h passing through openings i n t h e discs and being loosely held by pins i, on which spiral springs are disposed between the blocks. The blocks may be hinged or have a dovetail connection with the discs. To bring the clutch or brake into action, the brake blocks or rings e, f are pressed into frictional contact. For this purpose, inner and outer secondary blocks k are arranged about the brake blocks e, f, and are operated by means of a spring-controlled togglelever device m, m , in which the members m are connected at one end to the blocks k, by means of pins n, and at the other end to the members m, which are coupled to the arms o of a sliding sleeve. According to the Provisional Specification, the segmental blocks may be mounted at rightangles to the shaft, and, in place of operating the clutch by toggle-levers and blocks, a steel band, enclosing the brake blocks and operated by a pin or pins passing through one of the discs to a lever arranged thereon, may be employed ; hydraulic or pneumatic devices are also described, in which annular rings of rubber hose are expanded or displaced radially by movement of the sleeve &c. upon which may be mounted a reservoir of annular or other form.

When the substance used is relatively a weak stabilizer, there is added to it another that is a relatively strong stabilizer and weak gelatinizers. Phenyl urethane, ethyl phenyl urea, formanilide, phenyl ether of diethyl carbaminic acid, and a large number of others are mentioned as examples. The constituents are mixed by the method described in Specification 10,376/89.
