摘要： In a binarization process employing dot arrangement patterns, the deviation of formed dots is prevented from occurring. Specifically, the arrangements of the dot arrangement patterns of each of four planes, which correspond to the groups of the four species of dot arrangement patterns of one certain level of five-valued data, are determined. In a process for determining the arrangements of the dot arrangement patterns of the four planes, the repulsive potential between the dot arrangement patterns in each plane and the repulsive potentials among the dot arrangement pattern in one plane and the dot arrangement patterns in the other planes are computed. Besides, the arrangements of the dot arrangement patterns of the planes are determined on the basis of the results of the repulsive potential computations.

摘要： A data processing apparatus uses a pattern table arranging binarizing patterns correspondingly to positions of a pixel, each of which is used for a binarization process in which an arrangement of a number of dots depending on a value of multi-valued image data corresponding to the pixel is determined, to select the binarizing pattern depending on the position of the pixel and on the value of multi-valued image data corresponding to the pixel for executing the binarization process. The pattern table corresponding to one of the values to be taken by the multi-valued image data includes a plurality of types of binarizing patterns which determine different arrangements of dots from each other. The arrangement of each of the plurality of types of binarizing patterns in the pattern table corresponding to the one value has a characteristic that the arrangement is aperiodic and that low frequency components are fewer than high frequency components.

摘要： Multiple alignment patterns, each composed of first and second alignment pattern elements printed by forward and backward movements of a print head, respectively, are formed while the relative printing positions of the two elements are shifted. From optical characteristics data thereof, whether the data is influenced by a disturbance is determined. When the data is determined to be less influenced by the disturbance and therefore to be reliable, an adjusting value for aligning positions in printing in reciprocal movements is calculated by use of: data with the smallest relative printing position misalignment between the first and second alignment pattern elements; and data of optical characteristics close to the data. When the data is largely influence by the disturbance, a range of shifting of relative position is widened than that of the data less influenced by the disturbance so that more data pieces are used to obtain the adjusting value.

摘要： A method and an apparatus for ink jet printing use a print head including a first nozzle group for discharging a first ink, a second nozzle group for discharging a second ink and a third nozzle group for discharging a printability improving solution. The third nozzle group is displaced between the first nozzle group and the second nozzle group. The first nozzle group discharges the first ink on the printing medium based on image data to form an image, the third nozzle group discharges the printability improving solution on the image formed on the printing medium by means of another step, and the second nozzle group discharges the second ink on the image formed on the printing medium. The printability improving solution has higher penetrability into the printing medium compared to the ink.The method and apparatus can attain a clear colored, high density image without color mixing, which has high water resistance on plain paper, with a low running cost.
