    • Precoding information is provided (implicitly or explicitly) to a particular user equipment UE. Closed-loop spatial coding for a control channel is selected for the particular user equipment, and at least one control channel element CCE is determined within the particular user equipment's search space of the control channel that is associated with the provided precoding information. The determined at least one CCE is spatially encoded using the provided precoding information to schedule radio resources for the particular user equipment. The UE determines a search space for a control channel, and from received radio resource control signaling determines at least one CCE within the search space that is to be encoded with closed-loop spatial coding. The UE decodes the determined at least one CCE within the search space using a closed-loop spatial decoding with precoding information associated with the at least one CCE to find radio resources scheduled for the particular UE.

    • A scrambling sequence is initialized using at least a cell identifier and an offset, and a physical downlink control information DCI is sent to a user equipment which indicates the offset. In more particular embodiments a user equipment-specific reference signal UE-RS is scrambled using the initialized scrambling sequence, and the scrambled UE-RS is sent to the UE for demodulating a downlink shared channel (PDSCH). In another exemplary embodiment the generated UE-RS is sent in a pilot part of a subframe transmission associated with the PDSCH and is for demodulating at least a data part of that subframe transmission. In a specific embodiment from the UE side, the UE receives the UE-RS and the DCI which indicates the offset, descrambles the UE-RS using a scrambling sequence that is initialized using a cell identifier and the indicated offset; and demodulates the PDSCH using the de-scrambled UE-RS.

    • Disclosed is a method, apparatus and a computer readable memory medium that stores a program of computer instructions for enabling a resource allocation to be made for user equipment. The method includes forming a resource allocation for a particular system bandwidth, where the resource allocation has a larger number of resource blocks than a maximum number of resource blocks associated with the particular system bandwidth, while maintaining a same resource block group size as would be present with the maximum number of resource blocks for the particular system bandwidth. The step of forming includes the use of an extended parameter in a derivation of the resource allocation. The method further includes transmitting information descriptive of the resource allocation to user equipment. The resource allocation may be a downlink resource allocation or an uplink resource allocation.
