    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery enhancing fire retardancy without lowering battery performance, suppressing heat generation and ignition, and enhancing safety.
      SOLUTION: In the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery equipped with a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator, and a nonaqueous electrolyte, a piperidyl group-containing copolymer comprising at least one selected from a group comprising a specific constitutional unit obtained by forming (1) an imido of a maleic anhydride-α-olefin copolymer and making it react with 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-aminopiperidine, and a specific constitutional unit obtained by forming (2) sodium salt by making the maleic anhydride-α-olefin copolymer react with sodium carbonate anhydride, or an amide of the maleic anhydride-α-olefin copolymer by making it react with the 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-aminopiperidine, and then forming part of it in the alkali metal salt of an anion, and having a mean molecular weight of 1,000-500,000 is added to the positive electrode, the negative electrode, or the separator.
