摘要： Embodiments described herein relate to managing access to 5G cellular baseband resources for 5G-capable wireless devices. A wireless device can monitor application workloads by analyzing communication network performance requirements for a given application in-use or launching for future use along with system-level indications of overall device usage, battery level, and mobility status to determine whether access to 5G cellular baseband resources is recommended for an application. A 5G cellular baseband resource recommendation is provided for an application indicating a level of bandwidth in current use or expected for future use as well as a confidence metric in the bandwidth level indication. The 5G cellular baseband resource recommendation is used with additional device criteria to determine whether access to one or more 5G radio frequency bands is allowed.

摘要： A wireless electronic device having first and second baseband processors is provided. In one suitable arrangement, radio-frequency power splitters and adjustable low noise amplifiers may be form in the receive paths. The use of power splitters allow signals associated with the first and second baseband processors to be received in parallel. In another suitable arrangement, radio-frequency switches are used in place of the power splitters. The states of the switches may be controlled using at least one of the first and second baseband processors. The use of switches instead of power splitters requires that wake periods associated with the first baseband processor and wake periods associated with the second baseband processor are non-overlapping. To ensure minimal wake period collision, a wake period associated with the second baseband processor may be positioned at a midpoint between two successive wake periods associated with the first baseband processor.

摘要： A jitter buffer in a Voice over LTE receiver may be influenced by radio level feedback (RLF) from both local and remote endpoints to preemptively adjust the jitter buffer delay in anticipation of predicted future losses that have a high probability of occurring. The radio events of the RLF and the scenarios that trigger the preemptive adjustments may be identified, and their use may be expressed in terms of mathematical formulas. In prior art designs, the instantaneous jitter is derived from a weighted history of the media stream, and consequently only packets that have already arrived are used to compute the instantaneous jitter to adjust the length of the buffer. By providing and using RLF from both local and remote endpoints, the anticipated delay - for packets that have not yet arrived - may be used to preemptively adjust the buffer, thereby minimizing packet loss without introducing unnecessary delay.

摘要： A method for implementing mobile device-initiated inter-radio access technology (I-RAT) handovers between networks includes a wireless device communicating with a first network using an internet protocol (IP) address that was received from the first network during an initial attachment procedure. The wireless device may initiate an I-RAT handover procedure to connect to a second wireless network using a configuration message that includes a handover attach type. Once the connection with the second network is established, the wireless device may receive the information from the second wireless network using the same IP address. The wireless device may force the wireless device into dormancy and prevent data transfer, and initiate another I-RAT handover procedure to upgrade and connect to the first network, by sending an attach request message that includes a handover attach type.

In one embodiment, the networks are substantially unsynchronized, and during hybrid network operation (e.g., LTE and CDMA 1× operation), a mobile device can place CDMA 1× voice calls while registered with the LTE network. However, since the LTE and CDMA 1× networks are not coordinated, the mobile device will experience scheduling collisions. In one variant, the LTE network accounts for predictable behaviors (such as CDMA 1× paging), and schedules low priority tasks during likely time interval conflicts. Consequently, even though the mobile device must tune away from the LTE network to check CDMA 1× pages, overall LTE network performance is minimally affected.

摘要： Methods and apparatus for intelligent scheduling of client device tasks based on one or more network scheduling constraints. During normal network operation, a client device performs an array of scheduled maintenance tasks to optimize network performance (e.g., signal strength measurements, etc.) However, during hybrid network operation, regularly scheduled maintenance tasks for a first network can interrupt higher priority tasks on other networks. Consequently, the present invention in one embodiment provides a method for a client device to properly prioritize and re-schedule maintenance tasks. For example, CDMA 1X cell selection (or cell re-selection) procedures have flexible time constraints, and can be postponed (or expedited) to minimize impact on LTE network traffic.
