    • A convenient and natural way to draw polyline shapes on a stylus-based computing device is described. A tool or other drawing function relies on a timing mechanism to identify the various vertices in a polyline shape. For example, the endpoint of each line may be detected responsive to the user stopping (or substantially stopping, such as by remaining within a predefined maximum movement threshold) movement of the tip of the stylus relative to the touch-sensitive surface. In addition, feedback is provided indicating that a line and/or its endpoint is about to commit to the polyline shape being drawn. Such feedback may be displayed shortly before the line and/or endpoint actually commits. Upon further delay without substantial movement of the stylus, the line and/or endpoint may then actually commit. A “snap” function is also provided that assists the user in fully closing the polyline shape, if desired.

    • An optical fingerprint imaging system comprises an optically transparent platen and a protective film removably attached to the platen with an adhesive. The protective film protects the platen from scratches, pits, and other surface damage and is substantially chemically inert to petroleum-based substances which may come into contact when receiving a finger pressed to take a fingerprint image. The adhesive has a selected cohesive strength that allows the protective film and adhesive to be removed from the platen without leaving behind an adhesive residue. The protective film can be replaced periodically as part of maintenance of the platen to allow continued acquisition of accurate fingerprint images. A method for protecting a platen is also disclosed.

    • Oral hygiene devices and methods of use thereof are herein disclosed. In one embodiment, an oral hygiene device is a toothbrush, floss and a flossing aid combination. A plurality of toothbrush bristles is located at a proximal end of the device while floss and the flossing aid are located at a distal end of the device. The device includes a handle wherein a distal portion of the handle accommodates a plurality of floss spools. A shearing blade proximate to at least one floss spool for shearing a piece of floss from the floss spool may also be included at the distal portion. The distal portion of the handle may also include a flossing aid which may hold a piece of floss and may be used independent of use with hands of an individual.

    • A single-handle tool (20) for manually forming cylindrically-shaped holes in soil is useful for planting shrubbery or for posting. A uniquely angled and shaped pocket (30) is formed in a shovel (26). The shovel is attached to one end of a shaft (22) while a handle (24) with a knob (28) extends at 90.degree. to the other end of the shaft. Shovel (26) comprises an upper component (32) secured to a lower component (34) at an angle of about 135.degree.. The upper component is formed from a pair of joined portions (36, 38) to form an arched (curved or angled) configuration. This combination of the 135.degree. angle between the upper and lower components and the arched configuration forms pocket (30). In operation, the user swivels the handle to rotate the shaft and pocket such that the unique sharp ended and contoured shovel cuts a cylindrical hole (52) and retains cut soil in the pocket for removal from the hole.
