摘要： Providing a software distribution service via ad hoc peer-to-peer networks involves configuring a first device to offer a peer-to-peer software distribution service that facilitates access to a plurality of programs. The peer-to-peer software distribution service is advertised via the first device using a service discovery protocol of an ad hoc peer-to-peer network. At least one query for a description of the peer-to-peer software distribution service from a target device of the ad hoc peer-to-peer network is received at the first device in response to advertising the peer-to-peer software distribution service. Downloading of a program to the target device is facilitated via the peer-to-peer software distribution service. The program is selected from the plurality of programs and capable of operating on a processor of the target device.

The peer-to-peer software update service is offered by a peer device and facilitates updates of programs via the ad-hoc, peer-to-peer network. In response to discovering the peer-to-peer software update service, an update is selected that is applicable to a program of a first device of the ad-hoc peer-to-peer network. The update is sent to the first device and the program of the first device is modified using the update.

摘要： A set of performance-related data that represents both normal and abnormal conditions in the network is determined and stored in a mobile station MS. The set or a sub-set of this data is transmitted to a computer for analysis upon a triggering event, and the MS user is informed of the analysis results. The triggering event is receipt by the MS of an encrypted message to transmit the set or sub-set of the data. The MS decrypts the received message using an associated public key stored in the MS and transmits the set or the sub-set of the performance-related data only in response to correctly decrypting the encrypted message. The public key is one of a set of public keys stored in the mobile station, wherein individual members of the set are associated with applications executable by the MS in cooperation with a received encrypted command or encrypted data set.

摘要： A handheld portable communications terminal includes a freehand input device, such as a touch screen or a digital pen, and plural messaging applications. One messaging application allows a user to input a drawing using the freehand input device, and produces drawing data in a standard or commonly-used format representative of the drawing. A second messaging application, selected by the first messaging application, sends the drawing data in a message in a standard or commonly-used format (e.g. SMS, MMS, IM, email). This allows the drawing to be reproduced by a receiving terminal equipped with a standard or common messaging application. The first messaging application provides for the immediate entry of a drawing using a freehand input device in response to the opening of the messaging application. It provides means to allow a recipient address to be entered or selected in response to an input indicating the completion of content entry. It also allows the message to be sent through a single user input in response to the entry or selection of a recipient address.
