    • A communication jack has a first pair and a second pair of contact wires defining corresponding signal paths in the jack. Parallel, co-planar free end portions of the wires are formed to connect electrically with a mating connector that introduces offending crosstalk to the signal paths. First free end portions of the first pair of contact wires are supported adjacent one another, and second free portions of the second pair are supported adjacent corresponding ones of the first free end portions. Intermediate sections of the first pair of contact wires diverge vertically and traverse one another to align adjacent to corresponding intermediate sections of the second pair of wires, to produce sufficient inductive compensation coupling to counter the offending crosstalk from the plug. Capacitive compensation coupling may be obtained for the contact wires via one or more printed wiring boards supported on or in the jack housing.

    • In accordance with the invention, there is provided a telecommunication jack that is free of cross-over sections, has cross-talk characteristics that approach Category 6 levels, and avoids the use of spring contact wires supported in a cantilevered fashion. This is achieved in a preferred implementation by spring terminal contact wires that are arch shaped. Each spring wire has a first leg having an end, a second leg having an end and an apex portion located between the first and second legs where the ends of the legs are supported on a wire board and each end makes electrical contact with separate conductive pads. When utilized in an operating circuit, one end and leg of a spring terminal contact wire is coupled to a conductive pad on the wire board that is in a current carrying signal path, and the other end and leg of that spring terminal contact wire is coupled to a different conductive pad on the wire board adapted for connection to a cross-talk compensating component. In accordance with the invention, both pads of the wire board are connected to a common spring terminal contact wire, although only one pad and one leg of the arch shaped spring wire may be in the current carrying signal path. The legs of the arch shaped spring terminal contact wires can be of equal or unequal length, the arch can be semi-circular, triangular or the like, and the conductive pads on the wire board of adjacent spring wire terminals can be either aligned or staggered in distance from the edge of the wire board.

    • A terminal housing for a communication jack assembly is disclosed. A representative embodiment of a terminal housing body for receiving a wire pair, the terminal housing body having a front end and a rear end, includes a base wall having a top portion. The terminal housing body also includes a channel formed in the top portion of the base wall for receiving the wire pair. The channel is adapted to guide the direction of the wire pair. The body further includes a plurality of wire guide posts extending from the top portion and joined by the base wall and running along opposing sides of the top portion of the base wall of the terminal housing body. Grooves separated by adjacent ones of the wire guide posts have openings into the channel for receiving the wires of the wire pair are also included in the body.

    • The device comprises a latching assembly enclosed within, and translatable relative to, a centercase housing; the housing is mounted on a chassis. The device is adapted for cooperative engagement with a locking cylinder, for actuating the latching assembly, and for operation of a thumbpiece lift, by an ancillary, external, trim linkage, for translating the latching assembly. The latching device has a master, locking cylinder cam or dowel, the latter having a removable screw, which (through a locking cylinder) either operates a night-latch cam plate, to translate the latching assembly or, upon removal of the screw, allows the cam or dowel to translate a tumbler which, in turn, frees a thumbpiece lift, for operation (then) of the latching assembly by the lift, instead of by the cam plate. Accordingly, with the drive screw in place, the external, operating trim linkage can not operate the device; it must be unlatched, externally, by a key in the locking cylinder. With the drive screw removed, the use of a key in the locking cylinder will not unlatch the device, rather, in this circumstance, key-operation of the locking cylinder will enable the external trim linkage to unlatch the device, and such key-operation (with the drive screw removed) will also disable the trim linkage operation of the device, selectively.
