摘要： A radiation shield includes an aperture connected to an edge of the shield by a slit, which is held closed by a releasable flap. Instrumentation can be inserted through the aperture to contact a patient over which the shield is draped. By releasing the flap and thereby opening the aperture toward the edge of the shield, the shield can be removed from the patient without removing the instrumentation inserted through the aperture. A secondary shield is releasably secured over the aperture, affording further protection. Because the shield is placed within the septic field during use, the shield includes a sterilizable outer covering.

摘要： In the process of the invention the seed to be treated, a predetermined amount of solid matrix material and a predetermined amount of water are admixed and the mixture allowed to stand, preferably in a container which allows entry of air but which reduces evaporative losses, for example, a closed metal container with a small top opening, for a time and at a temperature sufficient to allow the seeds to imbibe water from the matrix and come to a water content equilibrium sufficient to enhance resultant plant vigor, i.e., enhance emergence, growth or yield characteristics, but short of that which would cause the seed to sprout.

摘要： Polymeric materials are provided that are produced from a blend of hydrophilic and hydrophobic biodegradable polymers. The polymeric materials can form fibers, nonwoven fabrics, films, coatings, etc. A compound can be incorporated in the polymeric materials. The delivery of the compound can be controlled by diffusion of the compound from the polymeric material and during biodegradation of the polymeric material. The release rate is controlled by varying the composition of the polymeric material to control diffusion rates of the compound and/or biodegradation rate of the polymeric material. This technology provides methods for delivering and controlling release rates of pesticides and related compounds in agricultural and non-agricultural settings. When adhered to plants or plant parts, the polymeric materials can provide protection from insect and disease pests. In pellet or capsule form, pesticides can be delivered into seed furrows along with crop seeds, providing similar protection.
