摘要： The request from the client to the server is made through the traffic control apparatus. The traffic control apparatus includes a unit for controlling the request from the client, a unit for judging the data reception performance of the client and a unit for controlling the number of clients simultaneously connected to the server. The number of simultaneous connections in the server is controlled so that the resource of the server can be utilized sufficiently and the requests in number exceeding the performance of the server cannot be transferred. When it is expected that it takes time longer than a fixed time to provide the service to be required to the client, the request is rejected and when it is expected that the service can be provided within the fixed time, the request is received.

Executed in the method are a first step of obtaining from the storage system information on a first priority assigned to each volume in the storage system and a capacity of a cache memory allocated to each volume, a second step of determining a second priority of the volume on the connection path through the network by referring the obtained information, a third step of notifying the host computer of the determined second priority, a fourth step of obtaining identification of the connection path corresponding to the determined second priority of the volume, and a fifth step of setting the obtained identification to the network device.

Thus, it is possible to realize communication whose quality is effectively controlled in storage data transmission. 摘要： A job control terminal creates a unit configuration table indicating the configuration of units connected to each of a plurality of processors in a multi-processor system. The job control terminal also creates an operating state table indicating an operating state of each processor including a CPU using ratio, I/O using ratio, memory using ratio, response time, and so on. When the job control terminal receives electronic mail for requesting job execution from a user through an electronic mail terminal, the job control terminal selects a processor assigned to execute the requested job based on the unit configuration table and the operating state table. When it is determined from the states of the processors that the requested job cannot be executed, information indicating that the job is unacceptable is transmitted from the job control terminal to the electronic mail terminal.

摘要： In a system which manages path information and status of network with respect to a path being used for access to a storage apparatus and has a redundant path, when a fault occurs in the network, whether or not the path can be recovered by rerouting in network apparatuses is discriminated, thereby performing proper path switching. Construction information and the path information of the network are managed as information of the path which is being used for a storage access by a management server. Further, when the access path is made redundant, the management server obtains fault information in the network and information showing whether or not the path is being reconstructed from the network apparatuses, thereby discriminating the necessity of the path switching. If the path switching is necessary, the management server notifies a host computer and the storage apparatus of it and each apparatus executes a switching process.

A host computer accepts the specification of the device identifier, that is an identifier of the network storage device in the host protocol which positions in a higher hierarchy than the network communication protocol, and a volume identifier, that is an identifier of the volume. 摘要： In an arrangement of a mail terminal 1, an electronic mail system 2, a job control terminal 4, and a computer system 3, a user makes a proposal of a file operation via a mail by way of the mail terminal 1. The electronic mail system 2 stores therein the proposal mail, exchanges this proposal mail with the job control terminal 4, and furthermore distributes a file operation result to the respective mail terminals. The job control terminal 4 receives a mail from the electronic mail system 2, and interprets the proposal mail, thereby executing a conversion from a mail ID into a host ID, a judgement of an access authorization with respect to the designated file, and a production of an instruction to the computer process system 3. Furthermore, an execution host computer is selected by monitoring operation conditions of the host computers. When the file operation result is sent from the computer process system 3, a mail containing this file operation result is produced, and the resultant mail is sent to the electronic mail system 2. The computer system 3 interprets a command issued from the job control terminal 4, thereby executing a reading operation from the designated file, a writing operation to the designated file, and a reading operation of a file name list.
