摘要： A locomotive (or other rail vehicle) truck and method for distributing weight asymmetrically to axles of the truck includes a first axle of a truck uncoupled from a traction system of the locomotive and a first suspension assembly coupling the first axle to the truck for applying to the first axle a first portion of a locomotive weight. The truck also includes a second axle coupled to the traction system and a second suspension assembly coupling the second axle to the truck for applying a second portion of the locomotive weight to the second axle that is greater than the first portion so that weight is asymmetrically distributed to the first axle and the second axle so as to transmit a corresponding incremental amount of tractive effort for a given amount of a driving torque applied to the second axle via the traction system of the locomotive. The axle weight distribution involves relatively slight weight distribution compared to the nominal weights normally carried by the axles.

摘要： An exemplary embodiment of the invention is a method for determining a reference speed approximating a ground speed of a vehicle having a plurality of axles. The method includes selecting a minimum vehicle speed based on one of the axles having a minimum speed. An axle having a lowest amount of creep is determined and designated as a speed axle. A derived speed from the speed axle is obtained and compensated by subtracting a creep value from the derived speed to obtain a corrected speed. Operating dynamics for the vehicle are determined and a reference speed is determined based on the minimum vehicle speed or the corrected speed in response to the operating dynamics.

摘要： An energy management system is provided for use with a hybrid energy off-highway vehicle traveling on a predetermined course. The energy management system includes an energy management processor to determine a power storage parameter, a power transfer parameter, and an engine transfer parameter for each location along the predetermined course to minimize the total fuel consumed of all fuel types during the predetermined course subject to at least one fuel parameter constraint. An energy storage system selectively stores electrical energy available from the traction bus as a function of the power storage parameter and selectively supplies secondary electric power from the stored electrical energy to the traction bus as a function of the power transfer parameter. The engine selectively supplies primary electric power to the traction bus at each location along said predetermined course through selectively using at least one fuel type in response to said engine transfer parameter.
