PREPARATION:The objective compound of formula I can be prepared by reacting the compound of formula III with the compound of formula IV (R is protecting group) in an alkaline medium at 30-150 deg.C, especially 60-120 deg.C, and hydrolyzing the resultant compound of formula V by conventional method. When the compound is used as an ionophore, and two kinds of solutions A and B are contacted indirectly interposing the solution of the ionophore M between them, the cation contained in the solution A can be transferred to the solution B.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain a water-isoluble porous polymer membrane which catalyzes hydrolysis of polysaccharides and separates oligosaccharides which are the product through selective permeation by using a porous polytetrafluoroethylene membrane as a backing material and bonding polystyrene sulfonic acid thereto.
      CONSTITUTION: A porous polytetrafluoroethylene membrane is immersed in mixed solns. of styrene and benzene, and γ rays are irradiated thereto to bond sulfonic acid groups to the polystyrene part which is grafted after washing, whereby a water insoluble polymer membrane is obtained. A chamber is segmented to two by such porous polymer membrane. If an aq. soln. of polysaccharides is filled in one of the section and water in the other section, the polysaccharides are hydrolyzed to oligosaccharides of low molecules by the catalytic effect of this porous polymer membrane, and are separated into the section filled with water through the membrane. In this way, the production of oligosaccharides from polysaccharides is made possible.
