    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for burning a heavy metal containing raw material for improving the removal rate of heavy metal, and for effectively suppressing the generation of nitrogen oxide.
      SOLUTION: This burning method is provided with a mixture generation process for generating a mixture by doping ammonium chloride of at least 2 to 10 mass% to the heavy metal containing raw material with the configurations of aqueous solution and a burning process for burning the mixture by using a rotary kiln 2 of a countercurrent system for making heat circulate to a direction opposite to the conveyance direction of the mixture. In the burning process, the mixture is burnt in a burning temperature for carrying out the chlorination volatilization of the heavy metal and the chlorine ion of ammonium chloride aqueous solution, and the heavy metal is deposited from the heavy metal containing raw material, and subjected to liquid phase chemical reaction with chlorine ion, and the heavy metal bonded with the chlorine ion is evaporated, and the heavy metal is removed from the heavy metal containing raw material, and the generation of nitrogen oxide is suppressed by the denitrification reaction of ammonia generated due to the burning of the mixture.
