    • The invention concerns a video coding method which consists in: a) encoding successive images (F) of a video sequence to generate encoding parameters; b) including the encoding parameters in an output stream (F) to be transmitted to a station (B) comprising a decoder (2); c) receiving from said station return data on the restoration of the images of the video sequence by the decoder; d) analyzing the return data in order to: d1) identify among the restored images, if at least one image includes at least one part which has been lost at the level of the decoder, d2) identifying, among the successive encoded images between said restored image and a current image to be encoded, at least one image part which refers to said lost part identified at step d1); e) encoding said current image of the video sequence in accordance with an encoding mode which is based on the identification or non-identification of at least one lost part as performed at step d).

    • The invention relates to a method for transmitting part of an image, said method comprising, in an encoding phase: the analysis of an encoding context; the adaptation of a parameter of a group of prediction functions that can be used for the encoding; the formation of a first predicted descriptor by means of a selected prediction function; and the determination and transmission of a residue (e) between the predicted descriptor and a current descriptor. The inventive method also has a decoding phase comprising: the analysis of a decoding context; the adaptation of a parameter of a group of prediction functions that can be used for the encoding; the formation of a second predicted descriptor (P*)by means of a selected prediction function; and the combination of the second predicted descriptor and the received residue for providing a decoded version (V*) of the current descriptor.
