    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic tool changing device capable of improving the working efficiency at a low equipment cost by freely changing a joint part of a desired line. SOLUTION: In an automatic tool exchanging device in which a male side joint part is provided on either a first unit 2 to be fitted to an operation part or a second unit having a tool, and a female side joint part is provided on the other to feed the electricity and gas to the tool side from the operation part side of a robot, and the male side joint part is connected to the female side joint part when the first unit 2 and the second unit 3 are appropriately joined with each other, the first and second units 2, 3 are provided with a body part 2a on their outer circumferential surface of which a plurality of fitting parts are arranged apart from each other, and a plurality of kinds of modules 32, 33... capable of being fitted to a fitting part in an attachable/detachable manner and having at least one kind of joint part of electricity, gas, air, water and oil. Each module is selected according to the kind of the tool provided on the second unit 3 side, and fitted to the fitting part of the body part 2a.

    • PURPOSE: To connect both units to each other always in a suitable contact state so as to prevent fallout of the tool side unit by providing one of both units with a proximity switch operated when mating surfaces of both units approach, and recognizing the contact state of the mating surfaces of both units according to the operation of the switch. CONSTITUTION: When mating surfaces 2a, 3a of both units 2, 3 of an automatic tool replacing device approach, a change in electrostatic capacity or a magnetic field is sensed so that a proximity switch 12 is operated. Accordingly, an electric signal from the proximity switch 12 is transmitted to an operating means such as a robot or the like, and in response to the signal, two engagement levers 10 provided in the first unit 2 of the automatic tool replacing device are pivoted upward to be open, and engaged with two engagement pins 11 provided in the second unit 3. Thus, both units 2, 3 are connected to each other and locked. Accordingly, the engagement levers 10 are not quite pivoted in the condition where the mating surfaces 2a, 3a of both units 2, 3 are not suitably in contact with each other.
