The device can include a retention member that retains flexible circuits extending from a top portion to a bottom portion of the device, thereby allowing some components to be moved from a top portion of the device to a bottom portion. The device may include a cover plate can be secured with a display in the top portion to cover the retention member and other internal components. The device can include an omni-directional port designed to receive a connector different orientations and provide power to the device. The device can include a flexible keyboard having butterfly keycaps. The device can include an array of openings for an audio driver, with some of the array including through holes and blind holes. The device can also include a touch pad having a force feedback sensor and a haptic device.

A light guide plate (78), which forms part of backlight structures (42), is mounted on the midplate (92) between opposing reflective structures (94) from e.g. white plastic or reflective coatings to redirect light leaking from the edges of the light guide plate (78) back into the light guide plate (78) for improving the backlight efficiency. The midplate (92) has bent sidewalls (100) that form a rectangular recess that receives, on the backlight structures (42), the display (46). Plastic trim structures (102), which are molded onto the midplate (92), define a rectangular recess that receives a display cover (98) and the white plastic reflector structures (94) may also be molded onto the midplate (92) to define a resess that receives the backlight structures (42).

摘要： A head-mounted device may have a display that displays content for a user. Head- mounted support structures in the device support the device on the head of the user. A non- removable lens system may be supported by the head-mounted support structures. The head- mounted support structures may be configured to receive a removable supplemental lens system. The removable supplemental lens system may be used to customize the head- mounted display to accommodate the user's vision. Information such as information on the optical characteristics of the removable supplemental lens system and the user' s eyeglass prescription may be stored in the removable supplemental lens system using bar codes, text, programmable memory, or other data storage. When the removable supplemental lens system is installed in the head-mounted device, control circuitry in the head-mounted device may retrieve the stored information. A gaze tracker system or other sensors may be used in retrieving the stored information.

Each optical module may have an optical module support structure and a lens and display coupled to the optical module support structure. The head-mounted device may have a head-mounted housing that supports the optical modules. 摘要： A head-mounted display may include a display system and a lens system in a housing. The head-mounted display may include control circuitry that operates the head-mounted display in an active use mode and a protected mode. In the protected mode, the display system may be protected from collisions with the lens system. Placing the head-mounted display in the protected mode may include using an actuator to increase the distance between the display system and the lens system, may include injecting fluid between the display system and the lens system, and/or may include deploying a protective layer between the display system and the lens system. The control circuitry may determine whether to operate the head-mounted display in protected mode or active use mode based on sensor data, on/off status information, location information, and/or other information.
