    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce loss of a light emitting quantity due to total reflection, by arranging a light transmitting layer having refractive index gradient on the surface of a semiconductor light emitting element in a light emitting device such as a light emitting diode.
      SOLUTION: The semiconductor light emitting element 10 and electrodes 3, 4 mainly composed of Ga-N are arranged on a sapphire substrate 2. On the surface of the semiconductor light emitting element 10, a light transmitting layer 20 is arranged. The light transmitting layer 20 is formed by a CVD method. Inside the light transmitting layer 20, oxygen concentration reduces and nitrogen concentration increases toward the semiconductor light emitting element 10. Therefore, the light transmitting layer 20 has a refractive index which becomes smaller as it separates from the semiconductor light emitting element 10.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device capable of enhancing propagation efficiency of light from an LED to a light guide plate as compared with a conventional one.SOLUTION: The illumination device 1 is provided with a light unit 5 in which a light guide plate 2 and an LED 3 with a light-emitting surface 3a opposed to a wall surface 2a of the light guide plate 2 are installed on a substrate 4, and translucent resin 15 provided from a gap 13 between an end surface 2a (a side wall) of the light guide plate 2 and the light-emitting surface 3a of the LED 3 toward an upper surface 3b of the LED 3. With this, not only light L1 emitted from the light-emitting surface 3a of the LED 3 but light L2 from the upper surface 3b of the LED 3 can be propagated into the light guide plate 2 through the translucent resin 15 to be used for illumination, so that propagation efficiency of light from the LED 3 to the light guide plate 2 can be enhanced.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a push-button switch device capable of making illumination by a low-cost light source compatible with the thinning of the device.
      SOLUTION: This push button switch device is equipped with a PCB substrate 4, a switching element 5 having a conductive reversing spring 6 and stationary contacts 7, 8, an LED bare chip 9 provided on the PCB substrate 4, and a light guide layer 11 made of a light-transmitting resin mixed with an optical diffusing agent that coats the surface of the PCB substrate 4 and seals the LED bare chip 9. A hole 13 for partially exposing the PCB substrate 4 is provided in the light guide layer 11. The switching element 5 is provided in a space 14 surrounded by the inner wall of the hole 13 and the PCB substrate 4. An elastically deformable sheet 15 is laminated on the light guide layer 11 and covers the hole 13. The reverse spring 6 is formed, to be pushed and operated by an operating part 18 via a transmission part 20 and the sheet 15.
