    • An adjustable resistance comprising a box-shaped body including an upper wall having an elongated slit and a bottom plate provided with a resistance element and a conducting element on the inside surface of the bottom plate, a fixed insulating plate being located beneath the upper wall of the body and having an elongated slit substantially aligned with said elongated slit in that upper wall, a movable insulating plate and a spring member both having registering apertures, a sliding contact support or carrier made of an insulating material and having a knob which is passed through said registering apertures of the spring member and the movable insulating plate to project outwardly through said aligned slits, a plurality of projections being provided on the sliding contact support, and a sliding contact piece mounted on the lower surface of the sliding contact support, whereby under the resilience of the spring member said sliding contact piece is urged against said resistance element and said conducting element.

    • A control means for adjusting an electrical device having an adjustable parameter is provided in a simple, inexpensive and compact design. In the disclosed embodiment, the electrical device is a variable impedance device of the type having an electrical contact linearly movable within an elongated housing. The contact is carried by a slide which in turn is controlled by a rotatable control member operatively drivingly connected to the housing frame and having a control wheel extending through an elongated slot in the housing. The control member is provided with an axially located aperture receiving one end of an indicating pointer, that pointer having a portion of reduced cross section extending through a second longitudinal slot in the housing. The pointer is retained in its operative position within the aperture of the rotatable control member by the engagement of a shoulder thereon with the inner surface of the housing wall and is movable linearly along the housing with the slider and contact. A scale means is adapted to cooperate with the pointer to provide accurate readout of the adjusted impedance value. In a preferred embodiment, that scale means is in the form of a transparent window opening in an outer casing generally in registration with the path of the pointer along the housing.

    • A variable resistor and switch assembly which in combination constitute an electronic tuning element assembly, comprises a variable resistor section having a slider movable along a resistance element by means of a rotatable screw, an indicator section having a flexible ribbon which moves past a window in accordance with the movement of the slider, and a rotary band selection switch section coaxially provided about the screw shaft and having a terminal supporting plate in which first and second fixed terminals are provided, a frame having openings and snap-engaged with the terminal supporting plate, and a movable contact rotatably held between the terminal supporting plate and frame to connect the first and second fixed terminals. The movable contact is actuatable by an operation portion via the openings provided in the frame. In this resistor and switch assembly, the terminals are integrally formed with the terminal supporting plate to allow a reduction in the number of parts and to improve the production efficiency.
