摘要： In the production of ethanol, the method of establishing and maintaining continuous fermentation under steady-state conditions in a fermentor comprised in a continuous process circuit by establishing and maintaining in the fermentor an amount of active yeast cells to achieve a certain ethanol productivity, continuously charging into said circuit a feed flow comprising fermentable as well as non-fermentable substance and water, said feed flow being dimensioned for supply of fermentable substance in accordance with said ethanol productivity to maintain a concentration of fermentable substance in the fermentor less than 2 % by weight, said feed stream also being composed to contain enough water to ensure a steady-state concentration of a non-fermentable substance in the fermentor sufficiently low not to seriously inhibit the growth of the fermentation activity of the yeast employed, releasing from the fermentor carbon dioxide formed during the fermentation, withdrawing continuously from said fermentor an outlet stream of fermentation liquor at a flow rate to maintain in said outlet stream an ethanol concentration in the range of 3-7 % by weight, continuously separating said stream of fermentation liquor into at least one continuous yeast concentrate flow and a continuous essentially yeast-free flow, returning said yeast concentrate flow to the fermentor, continuously separating said yeast-free flow, in an ethanol separation step, into a portion enriched in ethanol and a residue portion, continuously discharging said ethanol-enriched portion, continuously discharging part of said residus portion to balance the amount of non-fermentable substance charged to the circuit with said feed flow, and continuously returning to the fermentor the remaining part of said residue portion.

摘要： In a production of ethanol in plants, comprising a fermenter, a centrifugal separator for the recirculation of the yeast to the fermenter and a plant for the separation of a yeastfree flow, coming from the centrifugal separator, into one flow, rich in ethanol, and into one residual flow, the substrate, that is fed to the fermenter must be rid of solid substance, like fibres etc. In the separation of such solid substance a certain amount of substrate has been lost according to the methods utilized hitherto, or an unnecessarily high consumption of water and energy has occurred. According to the invention the solid substance, which is separated from the raw material flow, is washed, preferably countercurrently with said residual. flow, which in turn, enriched in substrate, is fed to the fermenter. If a distillative method is used for said separation the residual flow is called slop.

摘要： Wort is continuously supplied to a circuit including an elongated closed channel and through which micro-organisms are fed. After fermentation has taken place in the circuit, the mixture of wort and micro-organisms is centrifuged to separate it into fermented wort, a living cell mass and impurities, these three components being separately discharged from the centrifuge. The separate discharges of fermented wort and living cell mass are continuous, and the latter discharge includes an excess of living cells formed in the circuit, an amount of cell mass corresponding to this excess being discharged from the circuit.
