[Also in Division F2] A chain 2 for supporting and guiding flexible hoses or cables 7, 8, 9 between a fixed station and a movable one comprises links 4 pivoted together, each end of each link having a tab 22 (Fig. 5) and, on the opposite side of the associated pivot 19, an arcuate notch 23, each tab 22 engaging a notch 23 of an adjacent link so that in either limiting position of pivoted movement, a limiting surface of each tab 22 engages a limiting surface of its associated notch to provide two support points for each pivot, one on either side thereof, to reduce the shear load on the pivot. The hoses or cables are supported between two or more chains by transverse bars 5, 6 or transverse plates (10) (Fig. 2, not shown) with openings therethrough. As shown in Fig. 5, each link comprises two identical plates 14 bolted together, each with a concave surface 16 at one end and a convex surface 15 at the other, the surface 15 of one plate and the surface 16 of the other lying on a common cylindrical surface coaxial with the pivot 19. Cover plates (24) (Fig. 7, not shown) may be added to one or both sides of the links, these plates having no notches or tabs. An alternative link (Fig. 11) comprises a plate 45 with both ends 46, 47 convex with notches 48, 49, bolted to a plate 58 with both ends 59, 60 concave with tabs 61, 62. Again, plain cover plates may be added. The links may be of metal or plastics, and plastics links may be moulded in one piece. More than two notched and/or slotted plates may be used per link.
