摘要： This intraocular lens (IOL) injector cartridge has a proximal opening in a main body for receiving an IOL. The main body has a lumen that extends longitudinally to a distal end having an opening smaller than the IOL. Passage through the lumen compresses or rolls the IOL so that when the distal end is inserted through a small incision in the eye the IOL can be expelled into the capsular bag. The distal end of the cartridge is beveled with a leading tip in front of a trailing heel. The characteristics of the beveled end are such that damage to the IOL is reduced. The bevel may be straight or curved and includes a distal face defined by the thickness of the distal end between the lumen and an exterior surface. The distal face may be flush with the bevel or chamfered. An inner corner angle between the distal face and the lumen is ≥ 60° to reduce the chance of scratching the IOL as it passes out of the distal opening.

The injector includes an actuator (30) that is cocked to compress an automatic delivery coil spring (52). Cocking the actuator also folds the lOL and may elongate a dual optic lOL. A braking (48) mechanism may be provided to permit control of the spring-biased lOL advancement. The injector is in a pen style with finger plates on the side for better ergonomic control.

摘要： Embodiments of a micro-vitreoretinal trocar blade (100) may have a top surface and a bottom surface that converge to form cutting edges. Each of the top surface and bottom surface have a large rounded apex to maximize the area of the blade. Each surface also has concave regions that may form the cutting edges. Advancing the MVR trocar blade into tissue causes the tissue to contact the apexes of the top and bottom surfaces. The apexes draw the tissue into contact with the cutting edges. The cutting edges incise the tissue such that the incision is sized to accommodate a trocar cannula. The geometry of the top surface and bottom surface ensure that the features of the blade do not protrude radially outside of the diametral envelope of the shaft (110).

摘要： The invention is directed to a system and method for separating and collecting one or more tissue specimens from a target site within a patient and flushing the specimen to remove blood, debris and the like before the specimen is removed from the biopsy device. The flow of flushing fluid to the tissue collector is preferably controlled to coincide with delivery of one or more specimens to the collecting tray or basket of the device or after the receipt of the specimen within the tissue collector to ensure that the fluid (16) is applied to a fresh specimen. The tissue tray or basket within the tissue collector (14) has an open or foraminous portion to facilitate removal of fluid, such as the applied fluid and blood, and other debris from the tissue specimens on the tray. Vacuum (22) is provided within the tissue collector, preferably under the tray to remove fluid and debris from the collector interior.

摘要： The invention is directed to a system and device for separating and collecting a tissue specimen from a target site within a patient. The device includes a probe component with an elongated tubular section, a penetrating distal tip and a tissue receiving aperture in the distal end of the tubular section proximal to the distal tip, and a tissue cutting member which is slidably disposed within the probe member to cut a tissue specimen drawn into the interior of the device through the aperture by applying a vacuum to the inner lumen of the tissue cutting member. The device also has a driver component to which the probe component is releasably secured. The driver has a drive member for adjusting the orientation of the tubular section and thus the aperture therein and one or more drive members for moving the tissue cutting member within the tubular section to sever a tissue specimen from tissue extending into the interior of the tubular section through the aperture. The motion imparted to the tissue cutter is at least longitudinal and preferably is also oscillation and/or rotational to effectively separate a tissue specimen from tissue extending through the aperture in the tubular section.
