    • Endoprosthesis, such as a stent, includes at least one annular element defined by a first set of strut members interconnected to define apices proximate opposite sides of the annular element (20). The annular element (20) further includes a foot extension (40) extending between at least one pair of circumferentially-adjacent strut members (20). The foot extension has first (41) and second (43) foot portions extending circumferentially from corresponding ends of the circumferentially-adjacent strut members, and are contoured to provide at least two areas of flexure. The first and second foot portions are joined at a toe portion (48) of the foot extension, and define a circumferentially-directed apex between the pair of circumferentially-adjacent strut members. Preferably, at least one or more additional annular elements, each defined by interconnected strut members, are provided. The annular elements are generally expandable between a delivery configuration and a deployed configuration. The annular elements are longitudinally aligned and connected at connection locations. Preferably, each connection location includes a foot extension, such as by an overlapping pattern between the longitudinally-adjacent annular elements or by a connector extending therebetween.

    • A superelastic endoprosthesis can have improved fatigue resistance, and improved resistance to crack formation by being configuring to have an austenitic finish temperature from about 5 degrees Celsius to about 35 degrees Celsius, a stress- strain curve having an upper plateau stress from about 40 ksi to about 80 ksi, and a lower plateau stress from about 5 ksi to about 50 ksi. Such an endoprosthesis may be fabricated by heating at least a portion of the endoprosthetic body in a fluid, such as air, salt bath, or fluidized sand, having a temperature from about 400 degrees Celsius to about 600 degrees Celsius for at least about 30 seconds. Additionally, only portions of an endoprosthesis may selectively be subjected to the heating parameters of the present invention such that the endoprosthesis exhibits an increased radial stiffness and an increased flexibility in the longitudinal direction.
