    • PURPOSE: An electrode holder for melting furnace is provided to effectively seclude the contact between the electrode and oxygen. CONSTITUTION: An electrode holder for melting furnace comprises outer walls(12), inner walls(14), a route, a nose portion ash(16), and fire resistant shielding layers(46). The inner wall forms a channel(20) for accommodating electrodes. The route accommodates the flow of coolant located between the outer wall and inner wall. The nose portion ash combines the inner and outer walls at a first end of the electrode holder. The fire resistant shielding layer is deposited on the external side of the nose portion ash. The fire resistant shielding layer is extended along a part of the inner wall. The fire resistant shielding layer is composed of zirconia or alumina. The thickness of the fire resistant shielding layer is 100 micro meters or greater. The coefficient of thermal expansion of the shielding layer is 10 times or less than the coefficient of thermal expansion of the nose portion ash.

    • PURPOSE: An elimination method of carbon contaminant from element of metals for jewelry is provided to reduce carbon contaminant of discrete component of a molten glass transmission system. CONSTITUTION: An elimination method of carbon contaminant comprises the following steps: offering a first platinum-containing metal member which contains more than 3ppm of carbon concentration; heating the first platinum-containing metal member at specific temperature and time which are effective for reducing carbon concentration to less than 3ppm; overlapping the first and second platinum containing metal members in order to form an assembly which has a first empty space formed in between the first and second platinum containing metal members. The first platinum-containing metal member is heated for more than 12 hours at higher than 1200deg.C in an environment containing more than 20% of oxygen in volume.
