    • PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for producing methane are provided to obtain high conversion ratio of carbon monoxide even at low temperature. CONSTITUTION: A method for synthesizing methane comprises a step of generating plasma; a step of activating a catalyst by a plasma, thereby reacting carbon monoxide and hydrogen. A methane-synthesizing apparatus which synthesize ethane from carbon monoxide and hydrogen in a reactor including a catalyst, under the presence of a catalyst has a stainless rod in the reactor, and a catalyst filled between the inner wall of the quartz tube and stainless rod, and generates plasma by voltage application.
