    • The present invention relates to an immobilization carrier for methanotrophs, which selectively grows methanotrophs only with high proliferation rate; a biofilter containing methanotrophs immobilized on the carrier; a biocover containing methanotrophs immobilized on the carrier; a method for removing methane using the biofilter or the biocover; a medium for culturing methanotrophs, which selectively grows methanotrophs only with high proliferation rate; and a method for culturing methanotrophs using the medium. The immobilization carrier is capable of selectively culturing methanotrophs with high growth rate and enhances methane removal efficiency and capacity, thereby being used for developing a biofilter for removing odor or methane.

    • PURPOSE: A novel microorganism in novel sphingomonas, a composition for decomposing methane or bad smell causing compound and a decomposition method of methane or compound which causes bad smell using the same are provided to effectively remove methane and bad smell at the same time and to reduce processing costs. CONSTITUTION: A composition for decomposing methane or bad smell induction compound includes MD2 strain (KCTC 11845BP) in Sphingomonas sp. The bad smell induction compound is hydrogen sulfide, methanethiol, dimethyl sulfide, benzene or toluene. The composition additionally includes soil, activated charcoal, granite soil or earthworm cast. A bio cover for decomposing methane or bad smell induction compound comprises the composition. The bio cover additionally includes an oxygen releasing agent. A biofilter for decomposing methane or the bad smell induction compound comprises the composition. The biofilter additionally includes the oxygen releasing agent. A decomposing method for methane or the bad smell induction compound comprises the following steps: and processing the composition with a source of methane or the bad smell induction compound; decomposing methane or the bad smell induction compound by the composition. The decomposing system of methane or the bad smell induction composition forms a bio active layer on methane or the bad smell induction compound and decomposes thereof. The bio active layer comprises a bio cover layer in which one or more bio covers are laminated and a ventilation layer which surrounds the bio cover layer or a ventilation layer which is laminated on the lower part of the bio cover layer.
