    • PURPOSE: A hardware address map emulating method for testing a system software is provided to test principal functions of a system software without modifying system software although hardware is not supported in developing a system. CONSTITUTION: A server process receives emulate related information such as an ID of a unit, register offset, or data to be written in a register from a user through an input prompt and transmits the emulate related information to a client process(S410-S420). The client process maps unit base addresses according to each unit into a dynamic allocation map. If a unit base address mapping is executed, the client process checks whether the emulate related information is received from the server process(S430-S440). The client process records data value in a corresponding register address of the dynamic allocation map which indicates a virtual hardware address based on the emulate related information(S450). A hardware interface module accesses the dynamic allocation map, reads an event recorded in allocation areas according to units, and transmits the event to a system software(S460). The system software processes the corresponding event, creates a result, and records the event processing result in the dynamic allocation map through the hardware interface module. The event processing result is read by the client process, transmitted to the server process, and displayed on a user terminal of a workstation(S470-S480).

    • PURPOSE: A network generator using wavelength division multiplexing in a local area network and a channel connection method thereof are provided to reduce the possibility of collision by providing a plurality of channels to hosts of the network, and guarantee equity between hosts by preventing connection delay of the network and channel capture. CONSTITUTION: A host selects wavelength for frame transmission before transmitting frames and tunes lasers of a transmitter with the selected wavelength(ST21). A tunable transmitting part senses a carrier on the selected channel and starts frame transmission if the channel is idle(ST22¯ST23). In the case of transmitting a plurality of frames, the host transmits the first frame, and transmits the next frame after standing by during delay time between frames(ST25). If collisions are generated in frame transmission since other host tries transmission with the same wavelength, each host stops frame transmission promptly and transmits jamming signals(ST24, ST26). If the frequency of the collisions is lower than the designated maximum, the host tries transmission on the current channel after standing by during delay time obtained by a BEB algorithm(ST27¯ST28). If the frequency of the collisions is more than the designated maximum, the host jumps to the other arbitrary channel for trying transmission(ST29).
